Hey guys!
Today I am sharing my hospital bag essentials. If you are new here I just had the cutest sweetest little baby boy a little over one month ago. His due date was actually this week but I ended up having him early due to preeclampsia. Even though I had him early, my hospital bag was packed and ready to go. I ordered the items that I wanted in the bag weeks in advance and my husband packed them all in a duffle bag for me. The duffle bag that I used was from PINK. I liked this one because once we brought it home we could easily just wash it and store it.
My hospital did not provide deodorant so this was essential for keeping the musty armpits at bay.
It gets a little dry in the hospital room. This helps keep your lips from cracking.
This by far the #1 thing that I would recommend you having. The hospital provided underwear are mesh and not the most comfortable. These give you the absorbency that you need without you feeling like you have a fishnet on. If you are sensitive to scent I would recommend going with the unscented version of these.
I would switch back and forth between the always underwear and these with a large overnight pad added into them. I did that not for any particular reason other than I just wanted to. I was about 185 when I delivered and wore a size large in these and they fit just fine.
For you and your support person.
For you and your support person. The hospital blankets are thin and don’t keep you very warm.
I preferred my slippers over the hospital socks. The hospital socks are cool but there’s something about having your own slippers that makes you a little more comfortable.
After delivering (and finally taking a shower) you are allowed to change out of the hospital gown. Similar to the slippers, it is nice to be able to have your own comfies to make you feel more “at home” during your hospital stay.
The hospital provides both of these things but we preferred our own. The hospital towels aren’t very large and my husband is a pretty large person (6’5) and likes towels that are a bit bigger.
The hospital provides these things but I have sensitive skin and have to be super careful about what I put on my body. On top of that the hospital lotion has the consistency of water (lol!) so it doesn’t do that great of a job a moisturizing.
