My Skincare Journey: What Finally Started Working for Me

For a long time, I thought good skin was something you either had or didn’t.

I would try products here and there, but I wasn’t consistent, and I definitely wasn’t prioritizing my skin the way I should have been.

Over time, I realized that the biggest difference wasn’t finding one miracle product. It was building a simple routine and sticking to it.

Today, my skincare routine is actually pretty simple, and while my skin isn’t perfect, it’s healthier, stronger, and more consistent than it’s ever been.

The Biggest Change I Made

The single biggest change in my skincare journey was starting tretinoin.

I began with the lowest strength and slowly worked my way up over time. Today, I’m using 0.1% every night.

Patience was key.

Results didn’t happen overnight, but looking back, tretinoin has probably made the biggest difference in my overall skin texture and appearance.

My Evening Skincare Routine

Nighttime is where I focus on cleansing, treatment, and protecting my skin barrier.

Step 1: Cleanse

I wash my face using the ATOBARRIER365 Gentle pH-Balancing Foaming Cleanser.

I love that it’s gentle, hydrating, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped after cleansing.

Step 2: Blackhead Clearing Mask

A few times each week, I use a blackhead clearing mask to help keep my pores clear and my skin feeling refreshed.

Step 3: Tretinoin (prescription only)

After cleansing, I apply tretinoin.

This has become one of the most important steps in my routine.

If you’re considering tretinoin, my biggest advice is to start slowly and be patient.

Step 4: Moisturize

I finish my nighttime routine with the ATOBARRIER365 Cream Moisturizer.

This moisturizer has become a staple in my routine because it helps support my skin barrier while keeping my skin hydrated and comfortable.

My Morning Skincare Routine

My morning routine is focused on protecting and supporting my skin.

Step 1: LED Therapy

I start my morning with the DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro LED device.

It’s quick, easy, and has become a regular part of my routine.

Step 2: Moisturize

I apply the ATOBARRIER365 Cream Moisturizer again in the morning.

My skin loves the extra hydration.

Step 3: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Depending on how my skin is feeling, I’ll use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask for an extra boost of hydration.

Step 4: Sunscreen

The final step and one I never skip is sunscreen.

I’ve been loving the Supergoop! Every. Single. Face. Watery Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50.

If I’m using tretinoin, protecting my skin with sunscreen is non-negotiable.

What I’ve Learned

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that skincare doesn’t have to be complicated.

For years, I thought I needed more products.

What actually helped was consistency.

A simple routine, patience, daily sunscreen, and sticking with products that work for my skin have made a bigger difference than constantly chasing the newest trend.

Self-Care Looks Different for Everyone

For me, skincare has become one of those small daily habits that helps me feel put together.

Just like making my morning coffee or doing my nails at home, it’s a small act of self-care that helps me take a few minutes for myself before the chaos of the day begins.

And honestly, those little habits add up.
