Spiked Hot Chocolate πŸ«ΆπŸ½πŸŽ…πŸΎβ˜οΈ

It’s cozy season! And if you’re like me that means one thing…it’s time for hot chocolate. BUT, this holiday season we are ditching the prepackaged stuff and making our own with just a few simple ingredients. This hot chocolate is PERFECT for holiday parties and a true crowd pleaser.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of milk (I used extra creamy oat milk).
  • 1 60% Cacao bittersweet chocolate bar (chopped or broken into pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons dutch process unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 shot of baileys espresso creme liqueur

Garnish ideas:

  • marshmallows
  • crushed peppermints
  • holiday sprinkles
  • whipped cream
  • cold foam
  • the possibilities are endless!

How to:

In a saucepan on medium heat, add milk and the chopped up chocolate bar. Whisk every 30 seconds until the chocolate bar is mostly melted. Then add the cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and sugar. Whisk the mixture. Once everything is completely melted, remove from the heat. Use a ladle to add the hot chocolate mixture into a mug. Then add one shot (or more if you’d like) of the liqueur. Garnish with marshmallows, whipped cream, or crushed peppermints and enjoy!

Side note: If you’d like to leave the alcohol out of the recipe you totally can. Just make the recipe as is and don’t add the liqueur at the end.
