Back in October I made a post detailing a recent miscarriage. I wrote the post as a way for me to release and share a story that so many women go through but don’t discuss. It was really hard to put those words on the internet for anyone to see but I am so glad I did. My thought was if I could just help one person with that post then my job was complete. Little did I know while writing the post that I was pregnant and would be finding out shortly after publishing the post. I had no idea it would happen so quickly after so I wanted to share the things I did/used to get pregnant after my miscarriage. Now before I share, I am not a medical professional nor am I intending to provide medical advice/guidance. I am simply just sharing what I used to help me get pregnant after my miscarriage. Please consult your healthcare professional if you are trying to get pregnant as they would be able to provide you with the best medical advice tailored specifically for you.
Pre-Seed
So the first thing that I purchased after my miscarriage (and my period) was pre-seed. Pre-seed is a personal lubricant that helps support sperm as they make their way to the egg. Pre-seed does not damage the sperm (like some personal lubricants) which helps increase the chances of the sperm meeting the egg. I found this product on youtube after watching a ton of videos on how to get pregnant quickly after a miscarriage. This was a common product in all of the videos I watched so I decided to give it a try. I will say that a little bit goes a long way. If you use too much, it can get a bit messy….not gonna lie (lol!). I purchased mine at my local target but you can get it directly from the first response website or amazon.
Glow App
This app helped me time when it was a good time to “try” for the baby. Once I got my period, I plugged the date into the app and the app gave me a window of when I was most fertile. My husband and I “tried” at least once a day during that fertile time in the hopes of getting pregnant. Of course this app isn’t an exact science so we “tried” a few days before that fertile window and then a few days after just to make sure we did not miss my optimum fertility day.
Laying Upside Down For 15 Minutes
Okay so this one was sort of funny to me but people swear by it so I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it out and see. After trying, I would either prop a pillow under my hips or lay with my feet up on the headboard for 15 minutes. The only downside of this is that after about 2 minutes my legs would start to get numb but I would power through because I needed all the baby dust I could get!
Olly Prenatal Vitamins
I started taking these over the summer before we got pregnant the first time. I stopped taking them after the miscarriage for a little while and then began taking them again once we decided we wanted to try again. I really like these vitamins because they taste like peach rings. Thats pretty much all I have to say about these….lol. They also have a version without iron if the extra iron in the vitamin makes you sick or constipated. I buy mine from target.com but you can get them directly from the Olly website.
NO ALCOHOL
This was honestly a hard one because I love tequila and wine but it was a necessary sacrifice IMO. I stopped drinking about 3 months before we actually started trying and haven’t had a drink since. I will say I am looking forward to a HUGE glass of wine after this is all said and done. My husband also stopped drinking but not for the same timeframe as me. He stopped drinking towards the end of August.
Eating Healthier
This is when my husband and I started using the freshly meal service and limited our fast food intake. I would only eat these meals (for lunch and dinner) and I would eat oatmeal for breakfast each day. I actually really like this meal service and would have loved to keep using it but I got tired of the meals after a while. I have a bunch of food allergies so I was very limited in my selection of meals. Even if you aren’t trying to eat healthier, I would recommend this service!
Drinking Lots of Water
Making sure I stayed hydrated! No juice or tea at all… just water all day….every day!
Cervical Mucus
This is actually how I knew I was pregnant before I actually took a test (well, I hoped I was haha!) Your cervical mucus changes as the month goes on and if you watch it, you can gauge when you are fertile. This one is a bit tricky because you have to track it for a while to see what your mucus looks like throughout the month. For me, I wasn’t able to really track my mucus for too long before I got pregnant but I noticed an increase in mucus after my period which isn’t what usually happens. You are usually “dry” for a few days after your period and this was not the case for me at all which was an indicator that I was pregnant.
Please remember that I am not a medical professional. These are just the things I used to get pregnant after my miscarriage. If you are trying to get pregnant it is best to consult your healthcare professional for medical advice.
