Hey Guys!

I’m here to give you an update on my second trimester. My first trimester was rough and you can read all about it here. I am so glad to be a little more than halfway through this pregnancy because it has been veryyyy interesting to say the least. I definitely underestimated what it would be like to be pregnant and have a toddler running around but overall I am very thankful for this experience. I am trying my best to share as much as I can during this pregnancy because I didn’t share anything about my first pregnancy. With trying to be more open this time around, I asked you guys to give me some questions to answer about the 2nd trimester and you guys delivered! I got some really good ones and I will be sharing my responses to them as well as a few other questions below.

Does this pregnancy feel any different than your first?

Yes, this pregnancy feels 100% different than my last for a few different reasons. With this pregnancy I am much more sick than I was with my last. With my last pregnancy, I experienced hyperemesis which is basically like having really bad non-stop morning sickness all day. I was told that it could worsen with subsequent pregnancies and it is wayyyyy worse this time that it was with my first. With this pregnancy I am also much more relaxed abut carrying a baby. I experienced a loss right before getting pregnant again with my son. The anxiety that came along with carrying a baby right after a loss is indescribable. Every little thing had me on edge because I was so afraid of another loss that I couldn’t enjoy being pregnant. This time, I am trying to be much more intentional about being in the moment and enjoying being pregnant. Of course I still have worries and concerns but I try not to let them get the best of me like I did with my first pregnancy.

Have you picked a name yet? If so, will it be another “S” name like Sage?

So….we do not have a name. We are having a really hard time coming to an agreement on a name (first and middle) that we both love. Some of that is because we had a really cute girl name picked out and didn’t even think baby #2 would be a boy. Another part of that is, now that we know baby #2 is a boy, we want to find a name that sort of matches or flows with Sage. We have several names that we keep bouncing around but ultimately, we will most likely wait until we see his face to give him a name from our list. Some of the names on our list start with “S” but we aren’t deadset on having another “S” name. Hopefully this baby has a name within the first 24 hours because Sage went a full day and a half without a name. The hospital staff just called him “Baby Ryans” until we decided (lol!).

How are you feeling? Any cravings?

I am finally starting to have more good days than bad days which is nice. Up until a few weeks ago I would spend the majority of my day everyday running to the bathroom to throw up. Now, I may have 1-3 bad days a week which is HUGE for me. I am finally able to drink water and eat foods that I like. I don’t really have many cravings at all. Lately I have been loving pink starburst and Italian ice. I think I may have more food aversions than cravings tbh!

Body Changes/Weight Gain

This last time I went to the doctor I had finally started to put on a little weight which is good news because I had lost a pretty good amount in the first trimester. I am hoping that I can get close to gaining the 20 pounds that my doctor stated that he would like for most pregnant women to gain but I’m not going to stress myself out too much about it unless my doctor indicates some concern. With my first pregnancy, I only gained 10 pounds so my expectations aren’t too high this time around. My body has changed so much since the first trimester. My boobs are much more swollen and my belly is really starting get big and round. Around this time with my first pregnancy, I could still hide my bump with large t-shirts or sweaters but I deff cannot do that this time around. The bump has ARRIVED!

Must Haves:

I need ALL of the moisturizing bath and shower products rn! My skin has been very, very dry and itchy lately. I have been trying to combat that with making sure I keep my skin as moisturized as possible. The products that I like to use to keep my skin moisturized are:

Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash

Lush Rose Jam Body Wash

Nivea In-Shower Lotion

Lush Dream Cream Body Lotion

Maternity Clothes

So far, I have bought a mix of maternity and non-maternity items. Most of the things that I have purchased have been affordable since I am growing and I don’t know the next time I will be able to wear these clothes again. All of the maternity specific clothes have been purchased from Target. In their maternity clothes I wear an XS. The sizing of the non-maternity items I have been wearing varies depending on the fit and where I purchased them from. My rule of thumb is that for non-maternity items, I go up one size (maybe two).

Mood + Energy

I have “0” energy and it can be really frustrating at times. It’s frustrating mostly because there are so many things that I want to accomplish this year and I am afraid that I won’t meet my personal goals due to lack of energy. This has really affected my mood some days. I am really trying to work on being even more okay with taking a break. As I get bigger, my energy will decrease and I have to learn to be more okay with that. In my first trimester, I was able to relinquish more control but I am having a harder time with that during this trimester. I think a part of me is afraid I will lose myself with having two kids and I am grasping at what my life looks like now instead of embracing the positive changes coming.

Looking Forward To

Enjoying the rest of my pregnancy without being too sick and planning out baby boy’s nursery. I can’t decide if I want the boys in the same room or if I want them to have two separate rooms. Of course, the baby will be in our room for a while so I still have plenty of time to decide.

Makeup Products I am Using

I have only been using items deemed “pregnancy safe” since I got my first positive pregnancy test back in January. I have linked everything that I have been using regularly here. Fortunately, my favorite foundation is “pregnancy safe” and I have been using that whenever I do my makeup. I even wore it on out beach trip to Savannah and it stayed put. I wear the shade Valencia.
