My Cherry Vanilla Cookie Recipe

The other day I was scrolling through my blog and I realized it had been a moment since I have created a food related post. Food is and always has been a huge part of my life which is why I like to post about it from time to time even though this is mainly a fashion and beauty blog.

Over the weekend, I started began to look up cookie recipes to try. Usually, I am a sugar cookie with sprinkles or frosting on top kind of girl but I was feeling a little adventurous. I came across a few recipes for cherry vanilla cookies and I decided to sort of combine parts of each recipe to create my own super recipe if you will(haha!).  Now, I don’t mean to brag on my own baking skills but the cookies turned out delicious and my husband is already asking when I am whipping up the next batch.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter (I use Earth Balance which is a dairy free butter)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon bourbon vanilla extract
2-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt (I used fine grain sea salt)
1/2 package of white chocolate chips
1/2 package of bittersweet chocolate chips
1 jar (16 oz) of maraschino cherries, chopped

Step One: Cream the butter and sugar in a large plastic bowl. The butter and sugar should be well mixed.

Step Two: Add in the eggs one at a time. After you add each egg in, beat the mixture to make sure that the egg is well mixed with the batter.
Step Three: Add in the extract. Here is where you can kind of customize the recipe. I chose bourbon vanilla because I just lovvveee vanilla but you can pretty much chose the extract that best suits you. Beat the mixture.
Step Four: Add in the baking soda and salt. Beat the mixture.
Step Five: Add the flour in a little at a time. Make sure your batter is thoroughly mixed.

Step Six: Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries. (I split my batter in half. Half of my batter has bittersweet chocolate chips. Half of my batter has white chocolate chips.)

Step Seven: Using a tablespoon, place rounded balls of dough onto a cookie sheet. Bake your cookies for 12-14 minutes keeping an eye on the color of your cookies. You want your cookies to be a light-golden brown. (You want your cookies to be soft and chewy.)
